"OUR PAINT, OUR MESSAGE" a personal project about, artist jimmyC, London (2014)I first met James Cochran aka JimmyC in 1998 when I photographed him as an up and coming artist for a local magazine. Over the years our careers have progressed and James has long been based in Europe but we have always stayed in touch, occasionally collaborating on projects. Now, he divides his time between his exhibition work and his street art projects around the world. While I was in London for a commercial assignment we spent a couple of afternoons together over a balmy London weekend making this film of him working and a tour through the constantly changing streets of Shoreditch, a magnet to some the best street artists in the world.Soundtrack by Nicholas Paynesoundcloud.com/pumpernickle

"THE VALIANT" - personal project (2012)This project is close to my heart as it’s about my parents and Dad’s beloved 1974 Valiant ute (although it's as much about them as it is about the ute). I had a ball shooting this over the Easter break of 2012. Although this film was fairly early in my film making days I had already worked out a few story telling techniques and I think Dad really enjoyed seeing how a little film slowly comes together. The films you make about those closest to you are the most important you'll ever make. It was all shot on a Canon 5dM2 with opening sequence shot late afternoon using a 90mm tilt shift lens with my wife expertly pulling focus. All the footage was shot in Maitland and Port Victoria SA. It's a business that cares just as much about it's people as it does about it's product and the people who work there display a tremendous pride in their work.
